These are notes for now. This article may mature over time.

Perspective and terminology is representative of an Illustrator (latest) to a Sketch/InVision stack.

  • the name sketch search results
  • paste from illustrator crash
  • sub symbols? — context dialog still has option, tools does not
  • no way to share assets
  • invision mismatch
  • dropbox says unsupported and is shown?
  • Most tools, even core, are not available as key commands
  • Broken undo history — create a shares text style, duplicate it, then change it in one of them, now try to undo the change, impossible
  • Had odd disappearing elements when in bad undo path
  • No support for unicode characters as symbol, etc. names — Ionicon
  • Confusing feature release — Says motion is available, then says its not?
  • Fidelity in Sketch Mirror is retina resolution, while InvisionApp is 1990’s blur city.
  • Cannot move a specific mathematic amount, like 22px that way
  • Cannot set an anchor when aligning
  • Cannot set a specific with between distribution when aligning
  • No way to understand what the smart guides are calibrating to. Unpredictable results.
  • In general — easy to get into odd states in the app, feels flimsy
  • This odd state, z-space alignment was reversed? http://cl.ly/fFuw
  • Not clear what effects line-height
  • Can’t outline stroke
  • InVision Sync — Exporting artboards and pages — requires unique names for pages AND artboards
  • Not advanced selection like same of type or style
  • Won’t smart guide snap to a new artboard, requires the object to exist on the board prior to move
  • No equivalent to cmd-f or cmd-b
  • Cannot select an artboard by clicking the background
  • Cant have different fonts, sizes, etc. in the same text field — If you change the bold or italic in a shared style it will stay with only the one specific one, HOWEVER if you make a change to the shared style the bold/italic change will revert to no changes.
  • No anchor when scaling — Always top-left
